Brief Description

The proposed redevelopment of several commercial buildings to provide a 440 no. bedroom student accommodation including small retail unit in the heart of Durham City Centre.

Key Objectives

S.A.J Transport Consultants prepared a Transport Statement (TS) and Travel Plan (TP) to assess the transport related impacts of the proposed change in land use including a review of the increase in pedestrian and cycle activity associated with the student accommodation.

Servicing and refuse arrangements were also an important consideration in a constrained city centre site.

Outcomes

The application received support form highway officers at Durham County Council, contributing to the proposals receiving planning approval.

The student accommodation is due to open in Summer 2018.
