Get Ready for On Your Feet Britain 2025!
On Your Feet Britain is a national initiative encouraging desk-based workers across the UK to #SitLess and #MoveMore during their working day. In 2025, the event takes place on Thursday, 24th April.
Why Take Part?
Sitting for long periods has been linked to various health issues, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and musculoskeletal problems. Adding more movement into your day can boost your health, improve concentration, and increase motivation.
How to Get Involved
Here are some simple ways to add more movement into your workday:
- Stand During Phone Calls – Instead of sitting, stand up and move around while on the phone.
- Take Regular Breaks – Set reminders to stand and stretch every 30 minutes.
- Use the Stairs – Choose the stairs instead of the lift whenever possible.
- Hold Standing or Walking Meetings – Encourage colleagues to have meetings on the move.
- Eat Away from Your Desk – Take your lunch break in a different area to encourage movement.
- Visit Colleagues in Person – Walk over to a colleague’s desk rather than sending an email.
- Stand During Presentations – Position yourself at the back of the room to stay on your feet.
These small changes can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing!
Become a Workplace Champion
To get the most out of the day, workplaces are encouraged to appoint a ‘Chief Wiggle Officer’ to help promote and organise activities. Registering as a Workplace Champion gives access to materials and resources to help get colleagues involved.
Join the Movement
On Your Feet Britain is a fun and free way to shake up your daily routine and promote a healthier work environment. By taking part, you’re making a stand (literally!) against sedentary behaviour and encouraging a more active lifestyle.
