Travel by Bike

Rather than walking, you may prefer cycling which is a great way to get around the local area, and there is no limit to how far your bike can take you

Cycling is a zero-carbon form of transport; helps build muscle and is linked to improved heart and lung capacity. It can also save you time as you filter through the traffic and avoid the queues during the community peak hours.

There is a wide range of destinations within an approximate 30-minute cycle of your new home:

  • Bishop Auckland Train Station – 7 minutes
  • Shildon – 25 minutes
  • West Auckland – 15 minutes
  • St Helen Auckland – 15 minutes

Want to Travel Further:

  • Durham City Centre – 1hr 15 minutes
  • Raby Castle and Deer Park – 50 minutes
  • Newton Aycliffe – 40 minutes
  • Darlington Town Centre – 1hr 20 minutes

From your home, you can also access the National Cycle Route (NCR) 715. The NCR 715 is a 17.6 mile stretch of both on-road and traffic-free cycle paths through the centre of Bishop Auckland and along the Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway Path.

To the north the route joins the NCR 70 to Durham and to the south the NCR 165.
