Brief Description
A mixed use development in Philadelphia, Sunderland comprising 630 residential dwellings, a foodstore, a petrol filling station, a local shopping centre, a business incubator, and the retention of the existing B2/B8 business, as well as a link road between the A182 and the A183.
Key Objectives
Providing input to the preparation of masterplan, site access strategy and design of the link road/junctions.
Preparation of a Transport Assessment (TA), Framework Travel Plans (FTP’s) and the transport chapter in the Environmental Statement (ES) in support of the proposed application.
Collaboration with Sunderland City Council (SCC) to refine and agree the modelling results and design of the link road and junctions.
Outcomes
Modelling results showed the traffic impacts associated with the proposed development could be mitigated by the proposed link road and signal systems.
The application received support from the highways officers at Sunderland City Council, and the Highways Agency, contributing to planning approval.
