Love Parks Week: Travel Actively, Enjoy Sustainably

July 10th 2026

This Love Parks Week (24 July – 2 August 2026), why not show some love for your local green spaces by choosing active and sustainable ways to get there? Love Parks Week celebrates the many benefits parks bring to our health, communities and the environment, while encouraging everyone to get outdoors and enjoy these valuable spaces.

Whether you’re heading to your local park for a walk, picnic, family day out or community event, consider leaving the car at home and making your journey part of the experience.

Walk

If your park is within walking distance, enjoy the fresh air and boost your physical and mental wellbeing before you even arrive. Parks provide ideal spaces for exercise, relaxation and connecting with nature

Cycle

Cycling is a healthy, low-carbon way to travel. Not only does it help reduce congestion and emissions, but it also makes exploring local parks and green corridors more enjoyable.

Use Public Transport

Many parks are easily accessible by bus, Metro or train. Combining public transport with a short walk can significantly reduce your environmental impact while supporting more sustainable communities.

Why Active Travel Matters

Parks play an important role in tackling climate change by supporting biodiversity, reducing urban heat, absorbing rainwater and storing carbon. Choosing sustainable travel helps protect the very green spaces we’re celebrating during Love Parks Week.

This Love Parks Week, challenge yourself, your family or your colleagues to:

  • Walk, wheel or cycle to a local park.
  • Visit a new green space using public transport.
  • Organise a lunchtime park walk.
  • Share your journey and park photos using #LoveParks

Let’s make every journey count and help create healthier people, greener communities and a more sustainable future-one park visit at a time.
